Was speaking to someone earlier in the week that said they allegedly saw Gary Harkins driving out of NDP or the "SuperSeal Stadium" shall we call it. If that is true about Harkins I hope he was only just visiting

Would take Harkins in a heart beat. Wouldn't start every game but could open up a few defences.

As for turning our noses up at Accrington players, they only missed out on promotion by one goal. Don't know about Crooks but Windass looks like a player with a big future.

I see Killie signed 8 players yesterday. None of them are over the age of 22 and three of them seem to have no league appearances at all. None of them are Scottish. While I'm club before country, I would rather see us try out our young players than flood the squad with inexperienced English based players.

The Hamilton advertiser seems to be making out that accies have deals lined up and ready to but where are they? One of the rumoured players is Carlton Morris who apparently is coming up again for another season but it'll be interesting to see what these so called deals have to offer.

There is a Fleetwood player in the squad, Color Mclaughlin I think and he played in the first match.

Wait a minute. You read the Daily Telegraph???

Thanks, that explains the Telegraph's snafu!

And, yes, although not on a daily basis, why not? :D Plenty of in-depth balanced articles on lots of subjects. :geek:

It's not exactly a paper with Scotland's interests at heart.

I see this weekend, from social media, they stated that Nicola Sturgeon was the openly gay leader of the Scottish Conservatives!

The bloke who owns Fleetwood is minted, so it would be a step up, salary wise. Like you though, I hope, and expect he will go higher.
BTW: Our local Spar has been giving Daily Telegraphs away in the last few weeks, so occasionally I have taken one. at £1.40(?) it's dear for a daily paper, but still cheaper than the Guardian at £1.60!Champagne Socialists right enough at that price!

D'Acol re-signed till end of next season. Maybe he'll get a run in the team this season!

I don't know what to make of D'acol, plus why did they call him italian, wasn't he meant to be Brazilian?!
He'd need a string of a few games in a row before we'll be able to see if he's any good or not. His record with Aek Athens really was impressive, so hoping he's got 10+ goals in him.

It was Lucas who they said was Italian I'm sure. He has Italian citizenship to make it easier for work permits and such. D'acol may be the same.

From Accies twitter
Hamilton Accies FC ‏@acciesfc Jun 27

Italian striker Alex D'Acol has renewed his contract until the end of next season

He's definitely Brazilian, wonder how exactly they can claim he's italian? He's not even played in Italy! haha

It must be a common thing for young players coming to Europe from the Americas, Africa and Asia. Dual nationality. Much like Congo Chris and Lucas, Alex indeed does have a dual passport. He must have moved to Italy as a youngster then got a club in Greece.

Was reading the article in the daily record and Canning is stating that we have at least 5 deals ready to go. John Rankin is training with the squad but Canning made it clear that Rankin was only using facilities and we have no intention of signing him? Don't exactly see why not to be honest . There were also a few photos of these trialists and I could only make out one and that was Coll Donaldson the big blonde centre half from Dundee Utd. There was also another one who looked extremely familiar to me from the SPL but I couldn't make him out. Scott McMann the young right back is said to be our new Ziggy replacement and from what I've heard he fits the bill. Would still like to have some decent cover though. However we should have at least five deals sealed before the season kicks off.

The young right back would be Reilly I assume mate as Mcmann is left back I would like to see both these lads given game time in the cup as I feel they could both step up

It all sounds remarkably like our usual scatter gun approach. Most clubs have people signed up already and we're still looking. I appreciate what Martin said: i.e. Players are hanging on for a better deal, but it's a bit frustrating. I wonder if any of the trialists are European? That might need to change after Brexit :D

Ahhh I see so is Reilly the new replacement then? Canning seemed to be making out that big McMann will be playing first team football next year however how much game time he'll get is still up for questioning. I personally don't have a lot of hope in D'Acol if he is the new main striker. Thought he had one good game up at partick on the last day when he was partnered with Brophy but apart from that I've seen nothing that makes me want to have him as our striker. I really want to see Eamonn get a proper go at it next season as I think he could be a big player , the kid gets the fans excited and people expect things from him due to the reputation he's carved out with the U20's. However I think he needs someone to compliment him up top the way we saw with big Carlton at the tail end of last season. Just don't think D'Acol does it for me.
