Darian MacKinnon

Not without his faults and points he can improve on (discipline clearly although perhaps not unlike many players e.g. Alex Neil?)

But are people seriously suggesting that we have achieved what we have over the last 2 or more years despite him being in the team and despite him clearly being rated by Reid,Neil and Canning. In the last 2 home game guys like Rankin and Gomes know they have been in a game. I think a centre midfield of Gills, Dazza and Ali can go toe to toe with many in this league.

I'm not MacKinnon's biggest fan, although I can see what he contributes. He's an asset in that he breaks up our opponents' play, and that's why he's in the team. But he's a liability in that his passing is woeful, frequently causing us to lose possession. When a move breaks down, it's because it's gone through MacKinnon (or these days, Imrie).

Having said that, if MacKinnon could do both these jobs effectively, he'd be in the Scotland team.

I'll settle for his indiscipline, as it comes with commitment and fighting for the team. He can't be faulted for workrate or battling spirit. He's the Wolfie of the current squad.

Just a pity he cannot shoot LOW, though. A side footed tap in on Saturday was blasted into the Sainsbury's bushes instead. What not have him practice daisy cutters at training, MC?
