Club Licensing - Accies refused a Uefa licence.

Postby Alfie Olek » Fri Jun 26, 2015 5:52 pm

Accies like all the other SFA member clubs are subject to national licensing and as a premiership club to European licensing. The SFA oversee and carry out the process for Uefa. The current status of all member clubs has just been updated and can be found here -

We were inspected in May of this year and while we have passed all the national requirements we were refused the Uefa licence. It was granted to all the other Premiership clubs. Anybody no about this or why. It may be a technicality because the pitch was being relaid and until that's inspected no award could be made. Just as well we never qualified for Europe.

It says on the spreadsheet that we will be reviewed again in July, whereas all other clubs won't be reviewed until 2016. So based on that I'd say you're probably right about the pitch.

This fits with what I was told by someone inside the club in the middle of last season. We would not have been allowed to compete in Europe had we qualified. It is my opinion that this is why we didn't strengthen in January to avoid the embarrassment of not being able to take up a European spot had we qualified.

The old pitch had passed tests, so is the idea that as the club had already made arrangements for a new pitch to be laid over the summer that we then deliberately missed out on Europe?

Any use in asking the accies twitter page for an explanation as to what's happened? I know clubs don't tend to advertise bad press such as this, but if it is to do with accounts, that's worrying.

Do any of the coaches we have employed hold a UEFA Pro coaching certificate?
