7th Spot Secured

Postby redandwhite1874 » Sat May 16, 2015 5:47 pm

A point that's somehow needs reminding.

A roller coaster season; but I would be shocked if anyone would have sat in August and described 7th as anything other than hugely successful.

The best in 80 years............. lets just let that sink in. The club absolutely secure financially and with more young players coming thro hopefully.

Next season will be hard, but every season in the top league will always be like that.

Could have been so much better but after the torrid time we've had and going into freefall, finishing 7th is a success.

The reality is we owe that to Alex otherwise we would have been facing relegation/the play offs with our post January performances.

Thanks AN forgetting us to 7th place this season. The points you amassed up until you left in January and indeed team performances were exceptional an incredible journey which who knows what would have happened if you stayed, certainly better than 7th place methinks.

Echo the sentiments of above. Despite the dip in form when Alex & co left, 7th place is a great achievement. Special thanks to AN, Frankie and *22 for all your goals and for playing a huge part in what was an unbelievable 1st half of the season. Hopefully Canning is starting to find his feet now as manager and will be backed by the board to strengthen where he feels it's required to in the summer.

Martin is a nice guy but should never have been given the job simply not management material,Silk purse from Sow's ear and all that.

Don't think you can disregard MAC in all that. He did a great job til Neil left, scoring goals and linking play well.
The season has managed to be a success and failure at the same time. Canning shouldn't have been appointed and even if he was, he should have been backed with one or two good signings. Our front line needs a shake-up as Hasselbaink and Scotland have ultimately been poor. Andy Ryan is very lucky to be given a contract to next season and Brophy still hasn't overly impressed but he's still young so I'm hoping he can build upon his development league performances.
In midfield, Gills has really dropped off since Neil left and I was really hoping he could've shown the promise of being Alex Neil's replacement.
Lucas is good at the back but Jesus is a bombscare at times and very classy at others. Lyon and MacDonald haven't convinced me either. Happy to see the back of Hendrie and Ziggy is yet another player that's been poor since Neil leaving.
Keeping McGovern and Crawford will be big asks. They've been excellent with Crawford being a huge surprise package. Devlin's had a couple of slip ups but he's been my YPotY.
