This team has the ability to do well. We have been ahead in so many games from Jan. what we don't have is any managerial experience to hold that leed.

The split was a chance to view canning with fresh eyes! Yes I did not think we would win again we did with a bit of luck against well.

Canning can not be in charge next year!

Of course CANTzo will be in charge next season.
That terrific run of 2 wins and a draw will ensure that.
Not that it probably would have mattered anyway I'm sure if those games had been lost he somehow would cling on to his job
Can't wait to see the quality of new signings either.
Lol.

In other news Killie murdered Partick and St Mirren came back from losing to win and send our neighbours into the playoffs. We have secured 7th after you said we were in freefall and were heading to the playoff spot.

I am happy we are safe but we are far from being out of free fall!

If we were truly still in freefall we would have dropped down into the playoff spot! We didn't we finish the season in 7th place. You are convinced we're getting relegated next season before this season has finished and before we have had time to sort a squad out. Perhaps you should wait and see what kind of signings we make.

This absolutely merited a thread of its own; its so different from the match thread.

How did Motherwell get on spending money on a hugely expensive squad (compared to ours) then bringing in even more expensive players in January and with 2 experienced managers over the season. ?

The answer you are looking for is that over the season with the kind of budget and manager who are saying bring guaranteed success they are in the play off. Just finishing below RC with money thrown all over the place and Killie who have a few players on the kind of money that some think is a cert for success.

PS of course Alex was thee biggest part of the season - yet he himself is an absolute product of the ethos you think is almost worthless.

Never said the ethos is worthless it just needs ambition to go with it! The 7th place pish just covers up the reality of the state of the team just now under canning.

Well we had the ambition and ability to set up the first half of the season as well as the second half. But its seems Alex gets the credit for the first half and the board / club get the blame for the second?

St Mirren got rid of their manager in the name of ambition and I am sure they paid ambitious wages to guys like Thomson, Kello, Dayton, Tesselaar and more.

Motherwell had ambition for Europe and top 3 or 2 and again accordingly paid money to guys like McManus, Lasley, Hammell etc before they spent even more on Pearson and McDonald.

Any Accies fan who is happy with a 7th place finish after what could have been is showing as much ambition as those who appointed a rookie Manager with no transfer budget.

Disgraceful second half of the season and recent results merely confirm this.

A disgraceful end to the season which has clearly shown us to be 'nip and tuck' with the other bottom six clubs. Was anyone looking/expecting greater than this?
