If the club do look for a new manager soon (ie close season or sooner) should they consider bringing back Billy?

Personally no for me, but does anyone think he would "steady the ship"?

the thing is, people only remember the bad times - the last couple of seasons - but forget we finished 7th in the SPL following a fairly exciting and dramatic rise during the preceding few years.

who thinks we'll finish as high as 7th this season?

In all seriousness, I would consider it a step backwards but stranger things have happened.

Billy did produce a lot of positives for us, but I felt he became disillusioned the last season, maybe 2, he was with us.
I would far prefer we went for someone like Ian Murray (currently of Dumbarton).

I suppose the advantages of Billy coming back would be that he knows the club, the ethos and above all the budget constraints.
Nothing against Billy, but I would prefer he didn't return.

Not too much dubiety about what the posters think, with 92% against Billy's return.

Assuming the board do change manager, who would be your choice.
Mine's Ian Murray.

P.S Please don't say Alex Neil

I agree that if martin leaves that we should go for someone like Ian Murray, who tries to get his team playing enjoyable attacking football.

I have fond memories as Billy Reid both as a player and as a manager, but it would be a backward step to appoint him simply because he knows how we work.

I think I'd probably want Murray too but he hasn't necessarily won me over at Dumbarton. In his first season he transformed Dumbarton from relegation certainties to comfortable survival in 7th, then to challenging for the play-offs the next season. He's doing this with a part - time team which is pretty admirable. Despite this I'm not a huge fan of his style of play as he likes a very direct and aggressive style and leaks a lot of goals (though scores plenty too). Cant be worse than Canning though can he.
