Another sponsor bites the dust?

Postby TerracingTomas » Thu Nov 24, 2022 11:43 pm

Back in February 21 we announced a 4 year sponsorship deal with Sporting Pay. Quoting the press release,

Sporting Pay will provide New Douglas Park with state-of-the-art payments solutions, including new Electronic Point of Sale terminals and contactless card payment machines around the stadium and our Accies Functions.
This will see us showcase the Sporting Pay logo on our training and warm-up kits in a 4-year-deal.

Well I hope we got the 4 years worth of sponsorship upfront as looking at Companies House it looks as though Sporting Pay are going under.

Meanwhile Foys who were very quietly ditched as Stadium sponsors 3 years into a 5 year deal look like they are going the same way.

And new Accies Director of Propaganda Gerry Strain reckons Mcgoofey is an “astute businessman”

Must have missed the brief spell of Sporting Play being one of our major sponsors, TT!

It's been a series of what looks like 'shell' companies, year after year, that some have seen as 'White Knight' sponsors, yet there appears to be little tangible evidence, either in accounts, or new equipment actually installed at the ground. Even Greenock Morton now have ticket readers at their turnstiles, and many other clubs well down the divisons also. We still have PATG.

I've long given up believing that Accies have any sponsors who have any short, far less long, term monies invested in the Club.

I see Dave McKinnon is no longer a company Director of our stadium sponsors’ ZLX. I assume it’s cos he’s too busy in his role as Director of Football lining up half a dozen January window transfers rather than deserting another sponsor whose going belly up.

Albeit historical, ZLX's accounts looked healthy enough @ 31 March 2021, TT. Of course, 19 moths on from that, who knows? What was their sponsorship again?

"ZLX specialises in providing senior experienced personnel in the fields of engineering and finance" This might be a help to our CEO, then?

And now it’s the turn of Morton Rolls to ‘roll over’. No surprise really if you have followed the companies’ fortunes since they were taken over by a bunch of “astute businessmen” several years ago with the Inland Revenue carrying out dawn raids and unsavoury individuals acting as ‘ sales representatives’.

Whose next I wonder? I assume Nero Vodka are high on the list to follow Foys, Sporting Pay, Mortons, Nevis Home Improvements etc.
