Just seen Ayr Utd's new club shop on twitter. Shows yet again how far behind we are compared to other teams of similar and smaller size.
Old ground I now and not sure how we improve under the current regime but something has to be done.

A successful club shop needs imagination, motivation, business acumen and an interest in football which explains the current situation viz. a couple of shelves in the ticket office. I noticed at the Morton away game a few weeks ago that the official club shop was a small trailer parked up near the ticket office and manned by a fan. The selection of items for sale given it was a trailer was impressive.

You're both correct but this is flogging a very dead horse. It will NEVER improve until there is a serious attempt to run the Accies as a football club. Even Junior Clubs put our club 'shop' to shame.
Clubs with a smaller support do far better. We are stuck in a very deep rut with this one.

Almost everything Accies do is beyond amateur. There are boys clubs who run their business better than we do. Shambles of a club from top to bottom

My missus asked if I wanted anything from shop for Xmas. Told her not to bother as it probably would not arrive until February.

Amazing how these imaginative, motivated boards with huge business acumen and football minded owners have been kicking around the Championship and the first division for the last 15 years while Accies have been spending the vast percentage of that same period in the Premier league.

No top flight football for clubs bigger than Accies (in almost every measurement) but at least they can buy club crested tea cosies.

Last I saw Ayr had gained promotion to the Championship gone full time and consolidated their position. Currently the ground is undergoing new development. Arbroath have gained promotion and consolidated and may make the play offs. Their home support and season ticket numbers are nearly double ours. No they haven’t had 7 seasons in the Premier League but then they didn’t have to suffer 6 and a half years of mind numbing performances. And their current owners aren’t trying to asset strip the club of its stadium. But to more important issues have you bought ur ABBA tribute night tickets shame on you if you haven’t.

And in response to Accie’s question what can be done. The club could ask ASA to run a shop. As the Morton example the club as a gesture should buy ASA a suitable trailer to make appearances at home :D games and even stadium events such as the fireworks night. Sub ASA a thousand quid to buy stock, everything from tea cosies to calendars, on the condition that the profits go back to the club. The old supporters club back in the day ran the shop and the pie concession and handed over a lump sum every year. ASA could even sell the shirts in the shop and for those not able to make it in post them out. Whose ever heard of such a thing

Ps Not the Hope CBD trailer sitting next to the American Diner but a suitably badged Accies trailer. Come on Ronnie splash some of your cash for Xmas and buy ASA a shop trailer.

"Six and a half years of mind numbing performances" is really harsh. It's Hamilton Accies in the Premier, every season is a battle for survival. We had a lot of good games even under Canning - beating Dundee United and Dundee 4-0, the amazing performance at Easter Road, 3-3 v Hearts, though we blew a 3-1 lead. Two wins at Ibrox and plenty of derby wins. It was a good six years, all things considered. Ayr and Morton fans would've given anything to have those years. Ayr haven't been in the top league since 1978 and Morton 1988. But that doesn't mean we can't cast envious glances at how some clubs operate and look after their fans. Christmas is coming up and what have we got to tempt fans and relatives of fans. Very little. It all adds up to this managed decline we are witnessing.

it's just a pity there isnt any space on the ground floor where they could put in an expanded, modern, up to-date, semi-professional club shop
