Accies v Edinburgh City

Well at least we have gone from “These games come to soon for us” to “The gaffer made it clear from the first session that he wants us ready for the cup and that standard we have started is something we want to keep going throughout the season.” Mind you very often with Accies it’s tell the fans what they want to hear and not what the owners really believe.

Anyway we are playing a part time team whose preparations however thorough can’t match those of a full time one. Plus it’s an artificial pitch. So no excuses Accies 2 -0 please. As to the team apart from Fulton, I’m assuming Rice has a full squad to pick from including Temps, Want and Lewis so we should be able to field an experienced starting 11 but I suspect the likes of Temps will be kept wrapped in cotton wool for the league.

As I have managed to get a ticket this will be my first live games since the 7th March 2020 so irrespective of the result I am going to enjoy every second and minute.

Having missed out on going to Peterhead when we were in the bottom tier, I was very keen to get to this one. That will just leave Kelty and Peterhead for the full set.

I thought calum Smith hit it the goalie parried and Moyo tapped it in Obviously not. I'm at the other end so difficult to see but we're worth the goal so far Really surpised

Well it was great just to attend a live game with fans present. Missed the Accies fans repartee nothing like it to liven a match. Even the City fans joined in the we hate Albion Rovers chant. Pie shop was open and got a reasonable view from the grass terrace behind the goals. Good to see familiar faces even that of our ginger Comms guru.

To the game itself. Feared the worst when I saw the lineup. No Temps, Martin, McMann or Ryan anywhere to be seen and Jamie Hamilton on the bench. Accies Twitter feed trumpeting our youngest line up since Adam was a boy. However we started brightly enough and I think had the best of the first half with a goal to show for it. Second half started brightly but never seemed to have that cutting edge to kill the game off. Don’t think Hilton had a real save to make until the last couple of minutes when one of theirs got the ball down the LHS and only had Hilton to beat. But Hilton did well to block the shot. What else did I learn. Macdonald looks useful and Moyo doesn’t look any better than last season. Up against stronger opposition wouldn’t fancy our chances with that starting 11 or bench. But fair doos it was a win against lower league opposition in the League cup so a welcome start to our campaign.

Really enjoyed that tonight.
We were off the boil in the second half and against Championship teams it won’t be good enough however we have actually beaten a league 2 team in this competition!
Anyone any idea where McMann, Martin and Templeton were?

I wonder if that’s the same Craig Fowler who wrote that piece the same one from View from the Terrace?

Suspect one and the same. He's a Jam Tart supporter and a freelance journalist, probably living in the Edinburgh encachment area, and loves a live game of football anywhere, as we all do now.
View from the Euro's has also been very good in the last three weeks. :P
