Better Team won today

They looked like a division above us, though very physical, & with a lightweight refereeing team not helping our cause.

I agree that the better team won but I think that there were enough positives to not put a dent in our confidence. Hopefully the players can carry over the first half performance into next week's game.

Livvy shaded it at 2-1 and the last minute injury time goal flattered them.
Agree we put in a positive performance, but, boy, do we need a clinical finisher, as last weeks game plus today's proved. Shaw injured for how long? Todorov, whatever else he claimed to be when signed, is not a striker.

Commendations for Sean McGinty, however. Solid, no nonsense centre-half of the old school. Great signing, IMO.

I don't think it flattered them at all, they had FOUR clear cut chances to make it 3-1, the boy Kelly having two almost identical misses. That said, their keeper had a phenomenal save at 2-1 from possibly O'Hara. Todorov has a proven goal scoring record in this division but he's never going to get many getting on for ten minutes here, fifteen there. With Shaw out ( will we be told what's wrong?) he must now know that Rankin doesn't rate him. Mind you, he's in good company, he didn't rate Lewis Smith either.

Ridiculously poor home turnout today after two good wins. The crowd given was back to the works of fiction, no more than 630 Accies fans today. No thread on here until hours after the match sums up the apathy.

Just watched the highlights on Livis YouTube. If I’m being honest both Livi and Falkirk have far better squads than ours so didn’t overly expect much. Rankins inability to tactically beat better opposition has been well proven over his tenure. Saying that it did look like we gave a better showing than vs. Falkirk. I also believe we aren’t too far off QP and Partick in terms of quality in those playoff spaces so it could be interesting if we pulled another wee run together. I’d quite happily accept a season of mid table mediocracy and to build on next season. Boring but being an Accies fan, one boring season is maybe what is required :D

In fairness to Rankin, watching how Falkirk have competed this season… it puts into perspective what we were up against last season. Pretty much the same team (if not weaker with injuries) and they’ve blown away the league above.

Another game against better opposition and absolutely no sign of Rankin showing any kind of tactical awareness to make up that difference. I think the way the season is looking, it's going to be a season of mid-table mediocrity.

Whilst I'd not be happy with mid table mediocrity, it would be better than in the bottom two facing far more uncertainty as the season rolls on.

SC made a fair comment about the 3/4 chances Livvy had with shots across the goal in the 2nd half, so I agree that they could have really punished us more than 3-1.

Our predictable game plan & play has been sussed out by all other teams now, so don't expect anything different in the second half of this season

We are no where near prepared for a promotion push in my oppinion.

Mid table or better finish this season to consolidate our championship status should be the target. We need to prioritise resolving the infinite number of issues within the club before we can move forward. Issues relating to ownership of the ground, finances, debt, sponsorship, infrastructure, the commercial department etc. all need to be resolved before we can realistically have the foundations to be a well run club that can support any sort of growth. This is not a lack of ambition, going up in our current state would be a disaster.
