Accies squad 23/24

Postby TerracingTomas » Fri May 19, 2023 7:41 am

Other clubs sure of their position for next season have started preparations. Even after Saturday I don’t expect to hear much from Accies. Going by previous everybody goes on holiday.
But Queens Park have realised their squad update. Lee Kilday has been released. We tried to get him back when he was at Morton I think. I would certainly take him for our defence if we go down.

Connor Smith offered a new contract by Hearts. Well earned so I doubt we will be seeing him next season.

James Mcarthur is leaving Crystal Palace after 9 seasons. A boy can dream can’t he?

At 35 going on 36, could he compete in League 1 in Scotland? I suspect so, for at least a season.
Bobby Moore never ran about much, but spayed great passes all over the pitch into team players to pick up all the time.
Could we afford James? Probably not, and he'll go to a League 1/2 outfit in Engerland.

A great friend of mine does work with James McArthur's Dad occasionally and he stated his son wants to go into Management in the next few years.

He could kill two birds with the one stone here as Player Manager especially if Scott Martin is offski.

Rankin thinks we will be regarded as one of the favourites to win the league but there is going to be a massive rebuild. Different league different budget (smaller presumably)

And some news at last. I wonder if the likes of Lawson is leaving because he rejected new contract terms and thinks he can do better elsewhere?

Transfer window officially open today north and south of the border so let business commence. If the Fulton story is correct I expect to see him go in the next few days. Plus presumably some of those we have been talking too will sign. Proof of intent to return to the Championship in a season will be demonstrated by the quality of signings.

And Dan won’t part of it which is a loss. He just tweeted his goodbye

My time at @acciesfc is over. Huge thanks to my team mates, management & staff for giving me the opportunity. The past two seasons brought obvious lows and many highs.I will always value my time here. Special thanks to the fans for their support to me personally. It meant a lot

Next season is going to be the successful lads from under 18's and a couple of loans that we will sign no doubt on the last day of the window.

But hey come and spend £ 250+ on a season ticket

Latest from Rankin. Preseason starts on Wednesday and presumably any signings will be announced by then. Lots of names floating around re targets and potential signings but it seems pointless to pontificate until we get concrete news.

So our first signing is Lee Kilday. Happy with that. Having played most of the season for Queen’s Park he can obviously do a job for us at both League 1 and Championship level. He’s 31 so at least a couple of seasons in him

And another 2 leaving Shiels and Tumelty. Looks like we offered them contracts but they are looking elsewhere. Still in discussion with Martin and Mimnaugh.

Scott is too good for League 1 and mjuch as I would hate him to go, think he needs to for the further development of his career. Regan I am not too bothered about, would not be end of world if he did not sign
