Next Season

Postby Nike01 » Sat May 27, 2023 9:44 am

For all the disappointment of last week, Saturdays now aren’t the same. Already looking forward to next season. Hopefully, the Club are too, and not concentrating on personal matters/profit. If you’d 3 wishes for next season, what would they be? Yours sincerely, Aladdin.

Ok I’ll bite.

1. A completely new board of Accies minded men and women. Time to cut the chords to the old regime both Mcgoofey and Ronnie.
2. A change of coaching team. I had high hopes for Rankin but Scotty Tunbridge has been proven correct. Time to ditch him and get an experienced manager with promotion success on his cv.
3. And most importantly, a promotion budget that allows for the recruitment of at least half a dozen quality experienced players who can propel us back into the championship at a first attempt and are good enough to keep us there and kick on. No more young loanees, we will have enough youngsters on the books.

A retained list to be issued by the club before the start of next season isn’t too much of a big wish surely?

Hear what you're saying TT - But we are bang in trouble if "Mcgoofey's" sponsors all leave. I think he was the best unpaid commercial salesman the club has ever seen, might be contro to say on here but it's totally true although I agree with you it's time for change, we do need a new board and new manager - I just hope the new board can bring in money like Mcgowan did.

Sponsors? If you build it, they will come.
Was at Arbroath twice last season. Now, I appreciate there’s not a lot going on there, but where did all the kids at those games come from? I honestly don’t see why we can’t do better. Starts at the top. Need to be innovative, think like a new small business competing with established brands.

The Club could be better without him and his sponsors, if we manage to get someone genuinely interested in developing the football side of things and genuinely interested in forging links in the community.
Replacing him with a like for like ‘businessman’ would mean more of the same, which could even be worse, though personally I’d be happy to see the back of them.

Serious question, and would be really pleased to be proven wrong belive me, but is there any evidence to show that our " sponsors" have actually contributed to the club / delivered on promises made?

Correct! Mostly smoke and mirrors.
Seriously, the club needs to go in a completely different direction, and adhere to different principles. Where and what should be the debate. Unfortunately, it’s not a question of our squad. Honestly, that the least of our worries. We’ve been here before. Time we learnt our lesson. And quickly!
I’d be interested as to what other types of ownership structures football clubs are owned/managed.

NOW THAT WOULD BE A CHANGE OF DIRECTION - A SEAT ON THE BOARD - IF NOTHING TO HIDE, WHATS THE PROBLEM? IF ALL PULLING IN THE SAME DIRECTION, WHATS THE PROBLEM?

Hopefully we can keep some of the best kids and give them some real game time this year like 30+ games and then see where that takes us.

Difficult balance to get right though! Developing youth players is vital for a club like ours, no question. However, young raw talent need to play in a team with more experienced players in order to develop properly. Hopefully we can get it right this season and the young lads can bring back some optimisim
